The Town of Taos Police Department serves the community through selective law enforcement and crime prevention programs to protect life and property.

Additional, the Department safeguards the rights of all people, as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States and the State of New Mexico.

Taos Fire Department

The Taos Fire Department is a combination department meaning that it is made up of both a professional and a volunteer staff. There are currently 5 full time Town of Taos employees and an additional 16 active members of the Taos Volunteer Fire Department.

All of our fire fighters are trained through the Essentials program and are certified through testing by the NM State Fire Training Academy. In addition, most members are First Responder and CPR certified. Some fire fighters are EMT's. All fire fighters are trained in both structural and wild land fire fighting.
