LANDFILL CLOSED ON HOLIDAYS

The Taos Municipal Landfill will be closed the following days for the 2022 Winter Holiday Season:

• Friday November 11, 2022
• Thursday November 24, 2022
• Friday December 23, 2022
• Monday December 26, 2022
• Monday January 2, 2023

Taos Regional landfill is located at 24670 US Highway 64 in Taos, NM. The Landfill is operated by the Town of Taos and managed by the Taos Regional Landfill Board which is comprised of representatives from Taos County, Town of Taos, Village of Questa, Town of Red River, Village of Taos Ski Valley, and Village of Eagle Nest. The Landfill plans for seven cells on 100 acres within 230 fenced acres of property with an expected life of 114 years.

The Landfill generally operates Monday through Saturday and has a fill rate of approximately 84 tons per day. The Landfill will close on days when sustained wind speed reaches 25 mph. The Landfill accepts municipal solid waste, construction and demolition waste, green waste, scrap tires, scrap metal, and recently began accepting sludge. The Landfill recently completed it’s mid-term permitting review and is permitted through August 15, 2021.

No person shall transport any solid waste or recyclable material in any vehicle without covering, tarping or adequately securing the load in order to prevent littering and/or road hazards.’ per Taos County Ordinance Number 2010-5 Section 8.D.  Check Taos County Ordinance No. 2010-5

• Residential
  $5.25 minimum which includes up to 220 lbs. of waste
  $0.40 every additional 20 lbs.
  Punch cards for Taos County residents can be purchased through the Taos County Solid Waste Department at 575-737-6337.
• Commercial - $41.08 per ton
• Tires
  $2.00 passenger vehicle
  $5.00 large truck
  $9.00 heavy equipment
  10 or more requires manifest and $120 per ton
• Landfill Member Organizations - $45.00 per ton
• Non-members - $49.50 per ton

• Saturday, December 25, 2021
• Saturday, January 1, 2022
