Children’s librarians provide activities for youngsters from infants through grade school.
Story Time & Crafts
Story time and crafts for toddlers is held every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. throughout the year. For more information about the story time and craft, call the Children's Library at 575-737-2588.
The Children’s Summer Reading Program is to promote reading in the summertime so children can maintain or advance their reading levels. Student success can be achieved by taking advantage of this program which includes other recreational activities during the summer. Entertainment is provided in a safe environment for kids to explore their world by being involved with these supplemental programs provided. Prizes and incentives are given to promote this program.
Special programs are given for school-age children. Schools are invited to visit the library for tours, instruction, and stories. Please call at least two weeks in advance to arrange for a visit. Summer programs provide both entertainment and informational activities. The Children’s Library participates in the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) program and holds book giveaways throughout the year.
- March: Dr. Seuss RIF at the Taos Youth and Family Center
- June: Registration for the Summer Reading Program
- July: End of Summer Reading Program, awards, and ice cream party
- December: Christmas RIF with a visit from Santa Claus
About Our Collection & Resouces
The children’s book collection covers a broad range of fiction and non-fiction titles. We have books on CD’s and DVD's. Limit of 4 DVD's per family with a 7 day borrowing period.
There are five computers in the Children’s Library for the exclusive use of children 18 and under. They are internet accessible. Children are allowed two 30 minute sessions on the computers per day. Also available is one touch screen early literacy computer for toddlers.
