Eligibility to Vote for the Municipal Officer Election Day
According to state statute, to be eligible to vote, a person must be a resident of the municipality and is registered to vote within the municipal boundaries. To vote in the Municipal Officer Election, you must be registered to vote within 28 days prior to an election (Section 1-4-8, NMSA 1978).
Same Day Registration
Voters can register to vote and vote on the same day at Town Hall during the early voting period.
Please note: Same day registration will not be available on Municipal Officer Election Day.
To Register and Vote in New Mexico, an Applicant Must Be:
- A resident of New Mexico
- A citizen of the United States
- An individual who has not been denied the right to vote by a court of law due to reason of mental incapacity
- 18 years or older at the time of the next election
- If a person has been convicted of a felony, they must have completed all of the terms and conditions of parole or supervised probation, or have had the conviction overturned on appeal
